Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.98%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.98% to hit a new 52-week low.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were GCC SAB de CV (BMV:GCC), which rose 2.74% or 4.68 points to trade at 175.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) added 2.52% or 0.64 points to end at 26.07 and America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV:AMXB) was up 2.19% or 0.33 points to 15.37 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV:BOLSAA), which fell 6.58% or 2.21 points to trade at 31.36 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) declined 5.17% or 15.19 points to end at 278.71 and Cemex SAB de CV (BMV:CEMEXCPO) was down 4.35% or 0.51 points to 11.22.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 134 to 93 and 20 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 16.01 to $2,658.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.38% or 0.26 to hit $68.68 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.27 to trade at $72.21 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 1.93% to 20.67, while EUR/MXN rose 1.76% to 21.68.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 106.84.
