Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.41%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.41% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5), which rose 8.45% or 1.07 points to trade at 13.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:ASAI3) added 4.81% or 0.28 points to end at 6.10 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF:YDUQ3) was up 3.61% or 0.31 points to 8.89 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (BVMF:CSAN3), which fell 6.83% or 0.56 points to trade at 7.64 at the close. Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3) declined 6.43% or 1.63 points to end at 23.71 and Raizen SA Preferred (BVMF:RAIZ4) was down 5.39% or 0.11 points to 1.93.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 462 to 420 and 65 ended unchanged.

Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (BVMF:CSAN3) fell to 5-year lows; down 6.83% or 0.56 to 7.64. Shares in Raizen SA Preferred (BVMF:RAIZ4) fell to all time lows; losing 5.39% or 0.11 to 1.93.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.68% to 28.16.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.61% or 16.90 to $2,731.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.29% or 1.00 to hit $76.39 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.37% or 1.20 to trade at $328.35 .

USD/BRL was down 0.59% to 6.03, while EUR/BRL rose 0.73% to 6.29.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.18% at 107.91.
