Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.14%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB), which rose 5.19% or 9.69 points to trade at 196.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Regional SAB de CV (BMV:RA) added 4.36% or 5.08 points to end at 121.53 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) was up 3.94% or 0.97 points to 25.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB), which fell 4.43% or 5.52 points to trade at 119.18 at the close. Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) declined 3.51% or 0.49 points to end at 13.46 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALFAA) was down 3.48% or 0.54 points to 14.98.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 129 to 101 and 10 ended unchanged.

Shares in Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV:OMAB) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.19% or 9.69 to 196.53. Shares in Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.51% or 0.49 to 13.46.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 12.95 to $2,691.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.74% or 0.57 to hit $76.73 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.76 to trade at $80.25 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.64% to 20.52, while EUR/MXN fell 0.03% to 21.15.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.70% at 109.04.
