Netherlands stocks higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.77%

Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.77%.

The best performers of the session on the AEX were DSM Firmenich AG (AS:DSFIR), which rose 2.08% or 1.96 points to trade at 95.98 at the close. Meanwhile, ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) added 1.45% or 0.66 points to end at 46.10 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was up 1.33% or 9.60 points to 733.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Randstad NV (AS:RAND), which fell 2.25% or 0.90 points to trade at 39.16 at the close. Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) declined 1.15% or 0.66 points to end at 56.78 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was down 0.47% or 0.32 points to 67.24.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 54 to 44 and 13 ended unchanged.

Shares in Heineken (AS:HEIN) fell to 5-year lows; losing 0.47% or 0.32 to 67.24.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.09% or 0.80 to $74.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.18% or 0.90 to hit $77.06 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.39% or 10.46 to trade at $2,682.86 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 109.00.
