Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 2.79%

Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 2.79%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Plastic and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.79% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were USI Corp (TW:1304), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) added 10.00% or 3.40 points to end at 37.40 and Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025) was up 10.00% or 8.00 points to 88.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694), which fell 8.64% or 5.40 points to trade at 57.10 at the close. Goldsun Building Materials Co Ltd (TW:2504) declined 6.98% or 3.30 points to end at 44.00 and Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) was down 6.72% or 4.30 points to 59.70.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Loop Telecommunication International Inc (TW:3025) rose to all time highs; gaining 10.00% or 8.00 to 88.00.

Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.11% or 0.08 to $73.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $76.28 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.31% or 8.19 to trade at $2,655.59 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.22% to 32.70, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.27% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 108.00.
