India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.66%

India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.66%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.73%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which rose 4.02% or 21.25 points to trade at 549.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 2.76% or 45.45 points to end at 1,692.50 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 2.31% or 16.75 points to 740.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 2.07% or 6.05 points to trade at 286.50 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 1.87% or 238.80 points to end at 12,537.85 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was down 1.46% or 2.34 points to 158.32.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which rose 4.06% to 550.45, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.93% to settle at 1,694.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 2.29% to close at 1,688.05.

The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.81% to 12,543.75 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 1.49% to settle at 158.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.18% to 7,214.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1326 to 1186 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1936 fell and 1923 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.76% or 45.45 to 1,692.50. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.93% or 48.25 to 1,694.00.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.23% to 12.93.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $2,676.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.32% or 1.75 to hit $73.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.19% or 1.73 to trade at $77.31 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.10% to 84.05, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 91.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 102.86.
